here is the news

Lucky Soul news! The world's best band with a name beginning with Lucky and ending with Soul are finished all their hard studio work, and are releasing their debut album The Great Unwanted on March 5th, 2007. And since that's so terribly far away, they're releasing an EP on December 11th, with 'Ain't Never Been Cool' as the lead track. Their MySpace blurb and recent press release quotes my description of them a while back, which is nice and surprising, and makes me wish I had tried even harder.
Here are some acoustic versions from a radio session:
One Kiss Don't Make A Summer
Last Song
My Brightest Diamond will release an iTunes-only EP on December 5, featuring four versions of the Bring Me The Workhorse track 'Disappear': the original, an alternate recording, and remixes by Stakka and James McAlister. She will also include a new b-side, 'The Lace Handkerchief'. Good news for good people.
Disappear (album version)
Monster Bobby, the main songwriter for the Pipettes, will be releasing an album of his own material soon. I forget the details.
Monster Bobby - The Burning Ambition of the Early Diuretics
The Pipettes - The Burning Ambition of the Early Diuretics
Here is the video for The Zutons' forthcoming single, 'It's The Little Things We Do'.
It's a little thing they did.
And here are some more covers for the weekend:
The Cramps - You Give Me Fever
Jolie Holland - The Littlest Birds (though she wrote it)
Architecture in Helsinki - Pet Sounds (Beach Boys)
M. Ward - Sadie (Joanna Newsom - amazing!)
Damien Rice & Lisa Hannigan - Get The Party Started (Pink)
Islands - Waterloo Sunset (The Kinks)
Devendra Banhart - Doo Wop (That Thing) {Lauryn Hill}
Also, I'm still listening to Peter and the Wolf's Lightness, and it's still amazing. Also amazing is Red Hunter's dedication to being a great musician - aside from the shows in graveyards, on staircases, and islands. Here are some comments left at GvsB after his CMJ show:

After Red's performance (or lack thereof) at the Knitting Factory a couple nights ago I think he'd be wise into looking at protecting his "art" from his own fucking bullshit. As a local Austinite and fan who tried to bring NYC friends out to see PaTW I wanted to fucking vomit but I was too busy being thankful that so many of my friends couldnt make it to show on such short notice. It will be a long time before I listen to anything he has to say, musically or otherwise.

dudes i agree that knitting factory show sucked. i'm sorry about that. sometimes shows suck. i couldn't hear what i was playing and there was so much clamour that i couldn't finish songs. plus i was stressed as hell to be in that setting and drank too much which i rarely do before a performance, and the super-loud cmj crowd freaked me out. i'm sorry, dudes, not all my shows are like that! but i would love to know which anonymous sonofabitch who's "spent some time" with me has such jacked-up things to say. what are you, the bible? yeah, i'm evil. when nobody's looking, i drop bombs on iraqi children, and my nonviolent music is just a front. what kind of coward pulls bullshit like that? surely no friend of mine. as for justin cox, at least you were a man and didn't post anonymously. but surely we have mutual friends and you could've asked me personally what was going on that night as a caring human instead of just assuming i'm some asshole. and keith from the shivers is an amazing writer, anyone who's ever worked hard at writing songs (or worked hard at anything they care about) can surely see that.

Just commenting to make sure people didnt associate me feelings with the person who had their post removed.
I also was serious with my second post about me thoughts coming across a lot harsher than i meant them to me.
and Red, you're right, I probably could/should have talked to you about it personally through one of our many many mutual friends. But at the same time I think I should feel just as comfortable leaving my thoughts on any negative comments as I would positive on a public forum.
While typing this I got your voicemail. I appreciate your call and I want you (and everyone else) to know that I've been to maaaany of your shows before so I know first hand that they normally dont go that way. Anyway, I'll get in touch with you personally soon either by phone (once my shit charges) or ill just talk to you at your next show back home.
