my wrist snaps open

Sandro Perri - Double Suicide (original version)

As much as I dislike repeating myself, I have to make an exception for the above song, one that I have loved and adored ever since I first heard it in a tiny (and now-closed) club in Berlin. It may be a year since the release of Tiny Mirrors, Sandro Perri's debut album under his own name, but I'm still listening to it regularly, and it remains one of my favourite albums to play, talk about, and force on others.
The above song is a bit rare, released as it was on a tour only EP - it appears on the album in a slightly changed form, and remains gorgeous enough to earn a nomination for the ECHO Songwriting Prize! Yay!

You can vote for it here, and vote once a day for the next week. I urge you to do so, because the winner receives $5,000 CDN, and just imagine what Sandro Perri could do with that.

{The EP is out of print, but you can buy Tiny Mirrors here}

That is a really strong shortlist. I really hope Sandro takes the prize - for the money and the recognition - although I would be pleased if Veda Hille or Socalled won as well. The Weakerthans will probably win, though (they just won a couple of big ticket awards).
